Travel to Switzerland by Plane
Travel into Switzerland by plane is handled by three major airports in Zurich, Geneva, and Basel.
With Switzerland being a destination for leisure and business travel year-round, it’s not surprising that these airports, along with smaller ones in Bern and Lugano, are always busy.
While train or bus travel within the country is more common, Switzerland does offer domestic flights by carriers SWISS and Darwin Airlines.
Though more expensive, some tourists do choose to travel into neighboring countries Italy, France, and Germany by plane and then travel into Switzerland by train.
Such a route obviously takes longer to reach Switzerland, but it enables the traveler to see much more of the striking European landscape.
