Italy in 305 experienced the beheading of the bishop of Benevento.
The bishop was St. Januarius or St. Gennaro depending on who you speak with about this traditional festival in Italy. Annually, in Italy, the saint is honored for the miracle they witnessed during his demise.
The festival is held near Naples Italy.
Apparently during the beheading a vial of blood was stored. In 313 the clotted blood liquefied and thus the start of the Blood Miracle festival that goes on in Italy today.
