The offices in Greece are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am till 17:00 pm.
A new law was introduced in 2005 to set uniform hour’s weekdays from 9:00 am till 9:00 pm for retailers across Greece. Although establishments in most tourists’ resorts can remain open longer.
In tourist areas in Greece like Plaka in Athens are opened 7 days a week and for long hours.
For certain categories for instance pharmacies, government banks and offices, hours have always been standardised.
The banks in Greece are open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am till 2:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am till 1:30 pm.
The banks at Athens airport have longer hours.
Hotels in Greece can also cash traveller’s cheques on the weekends.
Many small business and shops in Greece close in mid August, and most tourists’ attraction such as hotels shut down in mid November.

In Greece restaurants and in particular taverns, often stay open on public holidays; some do close in summer as they are situated on the Greek Islands where tourism traffic is peak. During Christmas, New Year’s, Easter and August 15 these all are the days where everything in Greece is closed for business.
The patrol stations are open daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm some do close on Sunday, and several pump all night in major cities in Greece.
When you are in Greece and its late you need cigarettes, aspirin, soft drinks or even a pen, there kiosk that are open they are called periptero; these kiosks are on every corner and street of Greece and they have all kinds of necessities.
Some kiosks are open all through the night.
