Panarea Stromboli

Berliner Dom

The Berlin Cathedral, the largest Protestant church in Germany, is a must for church-lovers.
The cathedral was built from 1894–1905 on the Spree island according to the plans of Julius Raschdorff, and was both the main Prussian Protestant church and court church of the ruling Hohenzollerns.
The richly decorated building of Silesian granite – with the dome cross – once stood 114 meters high. Severely damaged during the war, it was later more modestly rebuilt.
The dome roof was designed more simply.
The main dome with the cross is now only 98 meters high.
The memorial church on the north side was torn down.
