Kurfürstendamm Shopping

The Kudamm

Kurfürstendamm and its extension, Tauentzienstraße remain the main shopping streets even now that the Wall has come down.
Kurfürstendamm (also known as Ku’damm) runs from the Memorial Church to Lake Halensee, which marks the beginning of the exclusive "villa district" in the west of Berlin.
The upper part of Kurfürstendamm and the following Tauentzienstraße are a shopping paradise especially for younger people because famous international labels like H&M, Benetton and Zara can be found right next to each other.
From Adenauerplatz the stores become more exclusive: designer names from Jil Sander to Yves St. Laurent in elegant fin de siècle buildings.
KaDeWe (Kaufhaus Des Westens) at Wittenbergplatz is a must visit even if just for the vast food dept at the 6th floor. It's reputedly the biggest department store on Continental Europe and still has an old world charm, with very helpful and friendly staff.
