The Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate was modelled on the Propylaea, the gateway to the Acropolis.
The quadriga chariot by Johann Gottfried Schadow was added to the sandstone arch in 1793.
Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's most famous landmark and a symbol of division overcome.
For many years it stood in no man's land next to the Berlin Wall and was reopened on 22 December 1989, following the fall of the Wall.
