Travel to Austria by Car

Because Austria is bordered by countries on every side, it’s simple for visitors to travel there via train, bus, or car. Austria’s border crossings are often busy with weekend travelers. Travel by car can be ideal for getting around and seeing the countryside, but it can also encounter a fair share of traffic. During school holidays, travel from Germany into Austria traditionally ramps up and the border between the two countries can get quite congested during these times, with traffic jams in both Germany and Austria more common than not. Travel delays should be expected. With a car, one can travel from Germany, Italy, and Slovenia straight on through to Austria
